The 2011 Preston Open was a huge success with over 65 competitors. Fans and competitors could not have wished for better weather, with no wind and a temperature of about 70 degrees the course was in tip top shape. Grounds crew members had the course shut down for two weeks in preparation and boy was it worth it. The greens were as crisp and beautiful as a fresh 100 dollar bill.

The scores for this highly prestigious tournament were all under 80 (except for one 92) which has not happened since 1975, the year of the Rabbit and the year that “Love Will Keep Us Together” by The Captain and Tennille was at the top of the charts. The lowest scoring male for this tournament was Barrett Dennison of Lambda Chi who shot a 39. The leading lady of this tournament was none other than fan favored Allison Parks who shot a 45. Be sure to read up more on the story in the next issue of Golf Illustrated.
